Dandelion Root
Information
Dandelion root is benficial for improving digestion (due to inulin and bile flow), acting as a natural diuretic, providing antioxidants, and potentially helping with blood sugar and cholesterol management, making it a popular coffee alternative with an earthy taste. It's rich in vitamins (A, B, C, D) and minerals (potassium, iron, calcium, zinc).
3 teaspoons steeped for 10 minutes in 1 cup of hot water, and 1 tsp honey (optional).
Used for all ages young to old. A little dandelion can go a long way; the art is in the dose especially for those who are young or sensitive.
A note that dandelion leaf tea and root tea are quite different in flavor and health focus: leaf tea is milder, grassy, and diuretic, good for general wellness, while roasted root tea is bold, smoky, coffee-like, and considered a stronger liver/detox aid due to its inulin content, though both offer antioxidants and support digestion.
For a weaker detox try the dandelion leaf tea.
