 TEA  BENEFITS  SAFETY
Birch Leaf Tea Rheumatic (Arthritis) Inflammation. When needed, Birch leaf can be used with confidence by all ages and by pregnant or breast-feeding women; there are no adverse reports in the medical literature from its medicinal use.
Blackberry Leaf Tea Anti inflammatory, sore throat aid, heart and tissue health. Blackberry leaf tea is generally safe in moderation (1-3 cups/day) for most adults, offering antioxidants and digestive aid due to tannins, but excessive intake can cause nausea or diarrhoea. Caution is needed for pregnant women (potential to induce contractions), individuals with allergies to Rosaceae family plants, or those with chronic GI issues, who should consult a doctor due to astringency and potential medication interactions.
Calendula Flower Tea Energy boost, digestive healing. Safe for all ages, however, as a member of the Compositae family (daisy) there is a small risk (less than 1%) of an allergic reaction from being in contact with the fresh plant. That said, reports of sensitisation to Calendula are extremely rare (Reider N, Komericki P, Hausen BM et al: Contact Dermatitis 45:269-272, 2001)
Chamomile Flower Tea Relaxation Chamomile can be said to be extremely safe for the great majority of people. However, a very few people will find that they have a mild allergy to Chamomile and that getting their skin in contact with the herb will cause itching or a rash or drinking the tea will cause some moderate swelling or discomfort.
Cinnamon Tea Anti-inflammatory and blood sugar reduction

In a nutshell, I would say that for Cinnamon in food, beverages or as a usual herbal extract; no problem for any age, pregnancy, breastfeeding etc.

Theoretically, cinnamon bark may lower blood glucose levels, and have additive effects in patients treated with antidiabetic agents; it should be used with caution and dosage adjustments to diabetes medications might be necessary.

Dandelion Leaf Tea Kidney health and mineral boost Used for all ages young to old. A little dandelion can go a long way, the art is in the dose especially for those who are young or sensitive.
Gentian Root Tea An active bitter that is great for digestive repair, liver, gallbladder and respiratory health. Anti-inflammatory, aids in lowering sugar cravings and a good 'night after' alcohol remedy. Gentian may not be well tolerated by pregnant women (somewhat understandably!) but there is no reason to think it would do any harm to the woman or her baby. It is certainly safe in breast-feeding and may even help the production of healthy milk. If needed, small children and the elderly should use Gentian with confidence because, even if it is hard for them to take, it may do them great good.
Lavender Flower Tea Anti-inflammatory and relaxation (for exhaustion, anxiety sleeplessness and irritability). Extremely safe for all ages.
Peppermint Leaf Tea Digestive aid and known headache remedy.  Best to avoid in quantity during breastfeeding as it may dry up milk secretions. Peppermint is also found to reduce the absorption of iron so it is best to avoid taking at the same time of day as taking iron supplements.
Rosemary Leaf Tea Anti-inflammatory and mental clarity.

Rosemary has gained a reputation as being unsafe to take in pregnancy but in fact there is no evidence that it will cause harm to the baby or mother and in fact when very large amounts have been given to pregnant rodents in tests it has not caused any harm. Rosemary is safe to take whilst breastfeeding and may in fact benefit the baby as the oils will pass through the milk and can be nice and calming to the gut.

It is recommended not to take strong medicinal teas or extracts of Rosemary at the same time as taking iron supplements as studies have shown that it does significantly decrease the absorption of iron (only if taken simultaneously).

General comment on herbal safety:
If in doubt, always consult a doctor before using any herbal remedies.

All medicinal herbs that have the power to do good have the potential to do harm. The old maxim 'the poison is in the dose' precisely describes how too much of anything can be bad for us. The ancient rule to 'firstly, do no harm’ is, to this day, held as the core directive by all practitioners of traditional herbal medicine. Not only are we careful to do our best to use the right herbs, but equally we take care to not give too much of them or use them over long periods.

I want to remind you that the reason that herbs can never be patented and owned by any individual or corporation is because they are, and always will be, 'the People's medicine'. They belong to all of us and it is my great hope in sharing knowledge that you will learn how to use them wisely for yourself, and the people you care for.
